Hi, I am Vemanna,

I used to be an engineer, and well, that's in the past. I started working with MAKNA in 2000 - it was a completely new world for me, from dealing with cold and detached machines to fully emotional and responsive human-beings. These last 10 years have exposed me to many interesting things about life. What it has made me do is to reach out to as many people as I can who are in need and try to help bring changes in their lives.

I would like now share a story with you. It is about the life of Franco Tan, a very strong and determined boy. When Franco was first diagnosed with leukaemia five years ago, he had to leave home, school and friends behind. Without any preparation, he was thrown straight into a world of medication, isolation and suffering. In 2006, he underwent extensive chemotherapy at HUKM Medical Centre (MAKNA Bone Marrow Transplant Ward) while sitting for PMR examination. Thank God his efforts were fruitful and he passed his exams. Franco is just like any one of us, he loves his family and friends and enjoys watching his favourite shows on television. He is interested in culinary studies and wants to become a chef.

After receiving a bone marrow transplant, he seemed to be on the road to recovery. Unfortunately, he now has a relapse and is under strict medical supervision. There are many more like him and sadly some of these patients do not make it owing to some complications they eventually developed.

To a cancer patient we are helping, your kindness means everything. Giving is itself an "art of healing" and your donation is definitely a special "blessing" from you directly to the patients.

Join me in my work in putting a smile back in those whose are suffering from cancer like Franco Tan.
