The Bursary Programme provides assistance for the following needs :-
- Assists cancer patients especially those who are unable to pay for treatment, medication, equipment and other relevant costs. Each application is to be vetted by the relevant public hospitals Medical Welfare Department before submission to MAKNA for approval of assistance. Priority is given to referrals from public hospitals only. To date, MAKNA is assisting patients from 48 government hospitals nationwide.
- Provides emergency assistance in the form of petty cash allocation for government hospital namely Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL) RM3000.00, Pusat Perubatan Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (PPUKM) RM1,000.00, Hospital Putrajaya RM1,000.00 and Hospital Umum Sarawak RM1,000.00, Hospital Kajang RM500.00, Hospital Seberang Perai RM1,000.00, Hospital Sultanah Aminah, Johor Bahru RM500.00, Hospital Selayang RM1,000.00, Hospital Penang RM 1,000.00, Hospital Ampang RM1,000.00, Hospital Pakar Sultanah Fatimah RM500.00, Hospital Seremban RM500.00 and Hospital Sultan Ismail RM500.00.
- Building a core team of professional and semi-professionals in various aspects of cancer through researches, trainings, seminars, study tours, fellowships and conferences.
We assist all poor cancer patients from 48 government hospitals nationwide.

Procedures:
Applicants shall attach referral letter by treating doctor and socioeconomic report / assessment by Welfare Officers (Jabatan Kebajikan Hospital).

Time Line:
2 weeks processing time upon receiving from Welfare officers if all documents are in order (listing attached). It will take longer if documents are incomplete (example : no bank account, need to open new account etc).

- Purchase of prosthesis i.e. breast, knee, voice prosthesis
- Purchase of chemo ports used in delivery of chemotherapy drugs
