Can food cooked in a microwave cause cancer?

No, there is no conclusive evidence that food cooked in microwave oven could cause cancer.

 

 

Is cancer curable?

Yes, you could be cured if it is detected and you are treated early.

 

 

Can I get contract cancer through contact with others?

No, cancer is a disease of the cells and is generally brought about by practicing a host of unhealthy life habits. These include but are not limited to smoking, unhealthy diets and excessive alcohol consumption.

Where does financial aid contributed to MAKNA go to?

Any form of financial aid received by MAKNA is split between various areas that are essential towards its mission, some of which include:

1.

Undertaking cancer awareness programmes and educational activities

2.

Fund-raising projects

3.

Administrative/operational costs

4.

The purchase of cancer-related medication and treatment at the MAKNA Cancer Institute, Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (IKM-HUKM)

5.

Research (ongoing since 2001)

6.

MAKNA’s Bursary Programme, which is a monetary assistance project that provides financially-challenged cancer patients the required support.

In addition to IKM-HUKM, MAKNA receives numerous applications from cancer patients – both children and adults – undergoing treatment in other government hospitals. These requests range from applications for radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment, the purchase of medication and travelling expenses.
