“..At the moment, he is full of life for the future...”
Ensering AK Abu
45 years old

Ensering's life has its fair share of problems. In 2003 at the age of 45,he was diagnosed
with cancer of the penis. He was also slowly losing his sight. He is currently 60% blind
and unemployed and is supported by his wife who grows and sells vegetables. They do
not have any children, and so have adopted a child, who is now 13 years old. They live in
Miri, Sarawak in a house provided by the government under the Housing for the Poor
Programme (PPRT). Despite his limited means, Ensering follows his regular schedule of
treatment strictly. He does not skip any of his follow-up treatments, scheduled every two
months. His condition is now improving. In his free time he also helps his wife with her
handicraft and hopes to open a small handicraft shop with his wife. If he is interested, he
can apply under the MAKNA Microcredit Scheme to start his business. At the moment,
he is full of life for the future, thanks to the support from his wife and child.
