Two years have passed and Pui Man is now 12 years old. She is a Year Six pupil. Although her health is less than satisfactory, this brave child is able to continue her education. This year she will sit for the UPSR. Although her examination results in the previous semester are not outstanding, she has not given up working hard and hoping for excellent results. Her health is improving and her condition is stable. She is delighted with her present condition and continues with follow-up treatments in Hospital Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (HUKM). The financial situation of the family is also improving. Besides aid from MAKNA, her mother continues to get sewing assignments and her two sisters are currently employed. The family income has improved their living condition and more importantly, this courageous child can continue her treatment and enjoy a more comfortable life among her beloved family members. written by Tan Loo Soo, 2006 |

Lau Pui Man was 10 years of age when she was diagnosed with leukemia. The news was received with great anguish. A great burden had befallen her and her family. The pain of having lost her father in the recent past had not diminished but now she was confronted with this dangerous disease. Nevertheless, Pui Man was grateful that in her delicate condition, she had strong support from family and friends. They gave her endless encouragement to stay strong and persevere in facing this tribulation.
