Touched by sister-in-law’s plight
SEEING the suffering of her cancer-stricken sister-in-law, Noradididah Mokhtar decided to organise a cycling trip to help raise RM100,000 for the National Cancer Council (MAKNA).
The Belia Rawana Association chairman and 14 other association members are now cycling around Peninsula Malaysia to help raise the money for cancer patients. They will cover 2,200km on their 25-day trip.
“Seeing my sister-in-law stricken with cancer saddens me. She is really suffering,” she said before being flagged off last week.
“I know how the other cancer patients feel. I just want to help them by raising funds through the trip,” she added.
Helping cancer patients: The cyclists being flagged off.
The group will first cycle north to Perlis before heading east to Kelantan, then to Johor and return to Ipoh via Malacca, Negri Sembilan and Selangor.
Association adviser Amirrudin Mohd Daud, 47, urged caring Malaysians to donate generously and said that the members would meet the public at each stop.
He said the group would also be campaigning for Rakan COP, anti-drug and homestay programmes during the trip.
Nursyaza Wardah Johari, 14, is the youngest in the group.
She said she was undaunted by the arduous cycling.
