2,000 walk for charity
OVER 2,000 caring Malaysians of all ages participated in Tesco Stores Malaysia's Walk For Life, a charity event in aid of cancer awareness and research, recently.
Held in collaboration with the National Cancer Council (Makna) to raise funds for its Cancer Research Fund For Life, participants were flagged off by Makna founder and president Datuk Mohd Farid Ariffin.
“Tesco decided to hold this event as we wanted to fulfil our social responsibility in promoting a healthy lifestyle as well as raising funds for Makna which is our charity of the year,” said Tesco Stores communications manager Sharanjit Kaur.
The 4.3km walk, which attracted families, young children and school groups, took participants on a journey from the Penang Municipal Park to the Penang Botanic Gardens nearby and back.
Sofia Yeng, 18, said she joined the walk for fun along with a group of friends.
“It is also for a very meaningful cause as we all should join in the fight against cancer,” she said.
