SsangYong Rexton to Power Makna Projects

Kuala Lumpur, 12 August 2004 – Majlis Kanser Nasional received a massive boost in its efforts to raise awareness on cancer and raise funds for its cause when Competitive Supreme Sdn Bhd donated a SsangYong Rexton RX270Xdi SUV to the organization. Makna will have full use of the luxurious seven-seater SUV, valued at RM170, 000 for all its projects in years to come.

One of the first projects this SsangYong Rexton will be involved in would be in a cross-nation run that is being carried out by Cik Suwaibah Muhammad Nasir. This run will cover 2004 kilometres, and cover 47 days. Along the way, many ‘stations will be set up and manned by Makna volunteers and staff. Cik Suwaibah will make stops at these stations to lend support and help to spread the word about cancer and cellular health. The Rexton will be one of the support vehicles. In addition, Competitive Supreme will be supplying another two similar Rextons to support the 47-day run.

Following the cross-nation run, the SsangYong Rexton will be used in the recently launched Cancer Screening Awareness road show, the Makna 10th Anniversary Celebration, Periwinkle Celebration, and the Digital Infrared Thermal Imaging (DTTI) road show.

“We are elated with this charitable deed and the donation of the vehicle comes at an opportune time as Makna embarks on a series of road shows in 2004 across the nation,” said Dato’ Mohd Farid Ariffin, President of Makna.

As we all know,….it is a never ending battle.” To underline this commitment, he also added that Competitive Supreme would also take care of the maintenance of the vehicle.

The vehicles were handed over in a simple ceremony at Seri Carcosa in Kuala Lumpur.
