TTMC Donates RM21,500 to Makna
Kuala Lumpur, Fri - Twin Towers Medical Centre (TTMC) has donated RM21,500 to the National Cancer Foundation (Makna) to help treat and care for poor cancer patients.
TTMC Chairman Datin Dr Sharifah Fauziah Alhabshi presented a cheque to Makna president Datuk Mohd Farid Ariffin at the medical centre yesterday.
The fund was raised from a one-month "Diamond Skin Peels Charity Project" launched in August last year.
The project was the brainchild of the medical centre's primary care physician Dr.Habibah Surani.
Fifty per cent of the charges from skin treatments done by the medical centre went towards the fund.
Clients signed up for four treatments which cost RM150 per treatment but had two additional treatmtents thrown in for free.
Mohd Farid said Makna was conducting 20 to 30 projects this year to educate the public as well as to raise funds for cancer patients seeking treatments.
TTMC also started a new charity project on skin treatement using light, heat and energy.
Ten per cent of the package, costing RM2,500 will go to Makna until the end of February.
TTMC is also encouraging donations of unwanted, old or used spectacles in a project collaboration with the Rotary Club of Ampang.
The spectacles would be distributed to various underprivileged homes and people.
