Makna Initiates Wills Promotion Drive For Charity
Kuala Lumpur, Wed - Members of the public can now leave cash of kind in their wills to support works of charitable organisations.
This was made possible after a memorandum of understanding signed between National Cancer Council (Makna) and Integrated Will Services (IWS) recently.
Makna president Datuk Mohd Farid Ariffin said the council initiated a promotion drive called "The Wills and Trust Campaign".
"The campaign will be a fund-generating project for financially challenged cancer patients."
Since Institut Kanser Makna was established at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Hospital in April 1990, It has treated over 8,000 patients.
In line with the campaign, Farid said Makna with its will-writing partner IWS was offering a special fixed rate of RM380 to draw up a will regardless of the number of in the will or the value of the estate of the person.
IWS vice-president and executive director Robinson Pan said in developed countries like Britain and US, many charitable bodies were funded through legacies left in wills by generous donors.
