Latin American festival is back

FOR the second time around, the Latin American Festival is set to return to add excitement in the city.

Organised by the Latin American Ladies Association of Malaysia and supported by South-South Information Gateway and Information Communications and Culture Ministry, the festival will be held on June 7 from 11am to 5pm at the Qba Latin Grill Westin Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

“All profits from this festival will be donated to the National Cancer Council (Makna),” said Latin American Ladies Association of Malaysia president Yolanda Valasquez.

“The money will be sent to the bursary programme where we support equipment for cancer patients,” said Makna’s international division executive Clarissa Gonzales from Brazil.

Representatives from Latin American countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Venezuela, Cuba, Colombia and Uruguay will be taking part in the festival.

They will be bringing their own food and beverages, traditional clothes, music, performances and also handicraft to be sold at the festival.

This will be a unique opportunity for Malaysians to get a taste of Latin America without going overseas.

Uruguayan ambassador to Malaysia Pablo Sader said more than 1,000 people came last year and they were expecting even more this year.
