His eyes reflect only the pain of his mother
Mohd Ariff Ibrahim was diagnosed with a tumor in his abdomen at a tender age of 5. His father is the sole breadwinner of the family, working as a rubber tapper and earning a daily income of only RM20 a day - of it doesn't rain.
Together with 9 other siblings, young Ariff lives in a small wooden house far from any neighbour, and opportunities for a better life. Despite these, his mother, Puan Siti Esah strives to provide strength and comfort for the family, especially for Ariff.
But that's not enough, because poverty and cancer could break even the strongest human spirit. Ariff is just one of the 40,000 poverty-stricken cancer patients in the country. And MAKNA has been providing his family with financial support of RM250 a month. Thanks to medical breakthroughs and the generosity of fellow Malaysians, the odds of surviving cancer have increased. Unfortunately, so has the number of cancer patients in the country.
Makna needs your support now more than ever to help these patients. You can drop your coins into MAKNA's Make Sens boxes or senf a cheque to: MAKNA, No. 26-3, Jalan 10/55A, Taman Setiawangsa, 54200 Kuala Lumpur.
