Timucin Yilmaz
Intern Student, Uludag Universitesi, Bursa Turkey Served MAKNA from 15 September to 18 October, 2008
Hi! I am Timuçin Yilmaz, I am 24 years old and live in Turkey. I am taking Economics classes on my last year at Uludag University / Bursa – Turkey.
As a main problem, it has been discussed in Economics classes, how to use the insufficient sources for an effective distribution. It sounds like a monetary matter, but the major demand is to increase the ease and create easy circumstances for humans. In that point it is being a social subject. Also states are an organization form of the social humans who lives together and needs each other. But mostly the governments of the states cannot cross the macro side to the micro side which means that, they can’t be sufficient by bringing help to the people who needs it. Especially in developing countries it presents importance and needs to be regulated. In order to that, the necessity is good organized and powerful associations. Just like MAKNA!
The fight against cancer is being very damaging because of too few information shares on this topic and its high costs. On the other hand, MAKNA – The National Cancer Council repeatedly saves ‘human life’s’; and that doesn’t has a monetary equivalent. MAKNA is doing that, both materialistic and spiritual support and by educational information sharing. Furthermore, day by day MAKNA struggles to move from a national to an international platform. But the main feature is that, MAKNA works as Non-Profit Organization; which means making the distribution of insufficient sources for the name of humanity. I think that’s why MAKNA’s slogan is – a meaning to life!
Although it was for a short term, I worked for MAKNA as an intern in 2008. My background is based on industrial enterprises and maybe that’s the reason why I was so surprised in MAKNA. Because, MAKNA is making really good effort to help and save life’s without having the aim at profit and giving information in the way of working just like them - in a professional working and business understanding. So, MAKNA wins everybody’s approval by being successful in social field as well going after the dream being international without any government support.
It was a great happiness for me taking a part of this staff even it was for a while. During the office hours it was a great experience for me to observe the amusing but serious business activities. But after meeting the cancer patients and making home visits the efforts were making sense and gaining more worth. I believe that, MAKNA’s materialistic and spiritual support, turns back as motivation and human life and constitute MAKNA’s energy.
Man is facing countless difficulties during his life. Even to know that, there are some people who could help you anyway in this kind of case, makes all of us looking hopeful to the future. Especially if that foundation is a ‘Non-Profit Organization’ there is only one word to say: THANK YOU MAKNA!
